Dear Mr. Giannini,
I cannot express how thankful I am for the incredible opportunity you have afforded me in creating UNCSA. This haven and training ground that you created for artists has allowed me to grow, expand, and mature as an individual and a creative professional at a pace and intensity that I have never experienced before. This artist's utopia is unlike any school in the country that I have visited and furnishes itself with a bevvy of talent, leadership, and guidance.
During my time here at the school, I had the opportunity to take a class titled Digital Media for the Artist. This investigation of media, creativity, and the way we learn in the ever expanding digital world lead me to research your life and work. It was incredible to me that your work as a 20th century composer was so extensive. Articles classify you as a great romantic composer in a time where most composers were focused on classical composition. But with all of the greatness applied to your life's work, he seems to have slipped out of history. It was not all of your musical compositions, operas, symphony's that allowed your name to float to the top. The real impact and footprint left on this earth is the great legacy left in UNCSA. Your passion for music that manifested itself in its romantic ideology extended into the tutelage of artists.
Allow me to describe what I have been allowed to do because of the school this year. Creating my fourth year thesis film, I had the opportunity to work with a fantastic composer from the school of music. The film being a musical, we worked together for months crafting the songs and shaping the film as a whole. This incredible experience would have been simply impossible at most any other creative institution. The work is not only interesting, but deep, rich, and maintains a level of polish found at any professional level. This is all thanks to you Mr. Giannini.
Bravi!
